The Bug Produces Beats, Bombs, Bass, Weapons, Congestion, Space, Concussion and Seduction from deep in the dark side of London. His new Ninja Tune album “London Zoo” has been receiving rave reviews from publications like The Observer and Pitchfork.
Recently signed to Ninja Tune, Montreal’s Ghislain Poirier is obsessed with big, dirty beats, an affliction that causes him create some of the most out of control ragga style riddims, and deconstructed abstract hip-hop to date.
Beat producer, party scientist, and remixer of artists from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of bass-heavy, bounced-up dancefloor-blends across the land. He’s released singles/remixes for Ninja Tune, Soul Jazz, Man Recordings, Tigerbeat6, and his own Mashit imprint; sharing the groves in those slabs of vinyl with the likes of Sinden, Drop The Lime, Ghislain Poirier, The Bug, Warrior Queen, Kid606, Serj Tankian and many more. The late, influential BBC Radio 1 host John Peel was a fan too. He would often feature DJ C tracks and eventually chose Mashit as a “label of the month.”
Producer, engineer and reggae singer, MC Zulu is an estabished solo artist as well as collaborator with Kool Keith, Aceyalone and more. He got his start as a producer of house and underground hip hop in Chicago, but his Panamanian/Jamaican roots eventually brought him back to reggae, creating his own riddims from scratch and bringing a distinctly Panamanian perspective (his initial tracks were in both english and spanish, with a strong regaeton influence) but later focusing mainly on the Caribbean patois style and ruff dancehall delivery.
Kingston, Jamaica born Warrior Queen is a multi-talented DJ & Writer who has worked with everyone from Penthouse Music in Jamaica to UK garage producer Sunship aka Ceri Evans. Together she and Ceri created the underground classic with ‘Almighty Father’ which was released by Casual Records. She’s also got a number of releases with industrial dancehall don The Bug including the BIG TUNE “Poison Dart” which is among their collaborations on The Bug’s recent Ninja Tune full length album. She also works with the likes of Stereotype, Al Hacha, DJ Zinc and many more.
